Live the Delta · Our guide

The Delta, slowly.

the way we live it.

A river opening into the sea, rice fields as far as the eye can see, and people who still live off what grows here. Here's when to come, what to do and where to go.

Sunset over the water in the Ebro Delta

When to come

A year in the Delta.

There's no off-season here, just a different landscape every season.

  • Oct – Mar

    NOW

    Water and birds

After the harvest, the rice fields are flooded for the birds. Flamingos, ducks and quiet until sowing.

  • Apr – Jun

    The Delta as a mirror

The rice is sown and the fields mirror the sky until green covers everything.

  • Jul – Aug

    Green and water

Long beaches in the morning, river and pool in the afternoon.

  • Sep

    Harvest time

The rice turns gold, is harvested, and the village kitchens fill with it.

What to do

Four ways to live it.

always with local people.

01 · On the river

Paddles, boats and fresh water

Kayaking and paddle boarding right by the house. The little ones can join in too.

02 · In the bay

Mussels and oysters, where they grow

Visits to the mussel farms and tastings with the people who work them every day.

03 · On foot and by bike

Flat, long and unhurried

Level paths through the rice fields to the lookouts and beaches.

04 · At the table

Rice, fish and garden produce

Delta cooking, at the tables where we eat ourselves.

For our guests

The full guide is waiting at the house.

Routes, our favourite places to eat and buy local produce, and who to call for kayaking or a mussel-farm visit.
